521 Varmeca Saves The Day With Less Maintenance | ||
![]() | Located in Fitchburg, MA, a paper mill that uses hypo to pre-treat the influent water was finding the diaphragm pump they used needed excessive amounts of maintenance, particularly because it continually vapour-locked. Additionally, the bleach pump needed monthly rebuilds due to the corrosion from the hypo. Although the diaphragm pump was lower in capital cost the mill found that the additional maintenance costs far outweighed the cost of a Watson-Marlow pump. Because a Watson-Marlow peristaltic pump is not susceptible to vapour-locking, the plant chose to replace the diaphragm pumps with Watson-Marlow peristaltic pumps. Maintenance has been reduced to an occasional tube change!
